Unnati Hooda continued her remarkable year by becoming the youngest ever to reach the quarterfinals at China Open, where she lost to former world champion Akane Yamaguchi after beating two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu.

Vennala Kalagotla wins bronze at Badminton Asia Junior Championships

Vennala Kalagotla scripted some history of her own by becoming only the second Indian woman after PV Sindhu to medal in the women's singles event at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships.

Athletes supported by the Reliance Foundation won a total of four medals at the World University Games in Germany.

Seema became the first Indian to medal in the women's 5000m event at the Championships by clocking a time of 15:35.86 in a season best effort.

The men's 4x100m relay team continued their fine form this year with the quartet of Animesh Kujur, Manikanta Hoblidhar, DM Jayaram and Lalu Bhoi winning bronze with a time of 38.89s, the fourth fastest time ever run by an Indian relay team.

Kushal Dalal won India's first gold medal in this edition in the compound mixed team event with Parneet Kaur before also winning bronze in the men's compound team event.
